About Artesanas CampesinasWe are a village craftwomens cooperative creating and handmade jewelry with original cultural content using traditional techniques inherited from our grandparents. Artesanas Campesinas (ARTCAMP) is a Mexican rural women’s artisan cooperative. We want to unite our efforts and the creativity of Mexican artisans, where every craftswoman sells directly to customers. ARTCAMP unites the women of the villages of Tecalpulco, Taxco El Viejo, Dolores, and Paintla, of Santiago Temixto, Tlamacazapa, Cerro Gordo, Itzala, and Mezcaltepec. The traditional economy of these towns is agricultural, practiced by rainy season cultivation of beans, squash and corn. Contemporary peasants need money for clothing, electricity, medicine and school. Trade in homemade traditional crafts provides much needed additional income. ARTCAMP was founded in 1991 - 1992 in the wake of the collapse of the local handcraft jewelry industry occasioned by broad changes in fashion in the United States and by the price pressures forced upon the humble handcraft producers of Mexico by the crushing market "globalization" of the 1990's.
Beautiful earrings and great service
I recently ordered these earrings and although the shipment took a while, they were definitely worth the wait! When I opened the package they were more beautiful than I even imagined. Also the service from the Discovered people was more than expected, they replied very fast to my questions and even updated me without asking.
