About Bona Dea
Greetings from India !!!
My name is Ritu Thapar. My passion for handcrafted things has led me on to this creative entrepreneurial path and that was the reason that I started Bona Dea.
I was always very fond of jewelry from childhood, but at that time there were no schools or colleges to learn the art of jewelry making. Like all children, I graduated from college and got into the corporate world. I worked for about 15 years before quitting once my daughter was born. After the sabbatical, I was toying with the idea of whether to go back to work or do some work of my own when I chanced upon some terracotta earrings in a local fair. I picked them up and was mesmerized with their beauty. As luck would have had it, an opportunity to learn from a very good art teacher came my way, who mentored me for six months, and helped me pick up the nuances of the intricate art of terracotta jewelry, fine art and beading.
From here on, started off my entrepreneurial journey of handmade jewelry. I have taught this art to a number of artisans as a part of on-the-job training. The concept, raw material, the design development and sampling and the whole gamut of marketing is handled by me.
My team of artisans are my strength and my company is the platform for them to display their artistic skills.
