About Lilani Upcycled
The Lilani Upcycled Craft unit is based in a village called Anandapuram, near Penukonda Taluk in Andhra Pradesh in South India. We are a full-time team of 10 and work with a varying number of other artisans from the villages nearby on a piece work basis depending on the workload of our orders
The Lilani Upcycled craft Unit aims to provide an alternate means of livelihood for the originally rural agrarian people of the Penukonda area in Andhra Pradesh. Working with destitute women and school dropouts as our primary focus group since we began 15 years ago as a solely vocational skills training center. We ran this program with support for 8 years where we trained around 500 plus women in this time period.
in the last 7 years, we have progressed into being self-sustainable with the development of our upcycled range of products.
We enjoy the idea of working with fabric scraps even if its a very tiny percentage we keep out of the landfills and be part of the growing community of humanity living a more conscious and nurturing existence. Every product is individually hand made from start to finish of the manufacturing process.
Although it is a time consuming and laborious process there is some pride we take in knowing that there is zero wastage from our unit and therefore appreciate your support and encouragement for our products and efforts.
Manchadi :) (Is thank you in Telugu which is the regional language of Andhra Pradesh, one of the 29 states of India, not forgetting the 7 union territories)
Have a wonderful day :)
