Beautifully handwoven large tote bag by Um Hassan, about 50 x 40cm, in black and white with yellow finishing. This pattern captures the vibrancy and diversity of Amman, where Bedouin tradition and modern life merge. Similarly, this tote combines modern design and the tradition of Bedouin weave craft. Bedouin weaving craft has ancient roots and played a key role in the survival of Bedouin tribes in the extreme conditions of the Sahara. The colors used in this tote refer to pattern used in the fabric of Bedouin tents, which traditionally is a pattern of alternating black and white stripes. In the design of this tote this traditional pattern has been combined with modern design. The result is a one-of-a-kind quality piece produced by Bedouin women in rural and desert areas in Jordan.
At LUMEYO our goal is to revive Bedouin weaving craft and empower these women by supporting them to create their own livelihood. At the same time, it is essential to us that our products are produced in a sustainable way. Our products are therefore created from recycled secondhand sweaters. Thus, with this bag you; contribute to the empowerment of Bedouin women, inspire youth to learn a craft and are doing something good for the planet, all the while looking fabulous.
Not only is this tote a good companion for your adventures it is also an incredibly fashionable statement piece. The black and white pattern in combination with the bright yellow finishing, creates a calm yet eye-catching bag which is an amazing addition to your outfits. The large tassels on each side of the bag offer a finishing touch, and make this tote stand out even more. No matter how you wear it or where you wear it, your outfit will be unique.
