Hailing from Orissa in Eastern India, Pattachitra (pata = leaf/ canvas, chitra = painting) is an ancient art form practised by many chitrakars or artisans in this region. With the entire family involved in the process, it takes about a week o ten days to make a single bottle.
First the bottle is coated with a very thin canvas in a criss-cross fashion, then a fine outline of the painting is made and finally the colours (natural dyes ) are filled in. The theme usually varies from tribal to mythological making every bottle as unique as the other.
Fall in love with this rare piece that depicts a mythological story in tribal style, using the choicest of colours, all natural!
