Tribal jewelry by Sanay Drop shaped brass plate beads alternated with brass beads on a thick brass string. Look: Contemporary/tribal. This piece has been made by a tribal artisan in Orissa, India. Tribal communities have a great love for adornment that is expressed in ornaments worn during religious festivals and important social occasions. The ornaments are usually made from brass and fashioned by hand or in a mould. Designs are embossed on brass sheets with design moulds or korli and then used in making pendants and rings. Each bead is seprartely made by hand using metal wire and sheets. Certain beads such as beads with 6 faces require alot of time and effort and an artisan is able to complete only a a few beads in a day. Ornaments are also made by the lost wax casting or dhokra method.
