What is Rakshabandhan?

Rakhi is a beautiful festival that celebrates and honors sibling love. It is love at its purest & deepest; and is portrayed in the form of the sister reminding the brother of the undying bond between them by tying a (Rakhi) holy thread on his wrist. This Rakhi, is a token of the vow the brother takes to safeguard his sister in every way. The same emotion is shared with the brother’s wife and his children. The lumba (the Rakhi for the co-sister) is normally tied to her bracelet or bangle or is even slipped on her wrist such that the embroidered main element dangles below. Brother then gifts something to the sister. Now, however, siblings (including cousins) tie it on each other's wrist just like friendship band. Overall, the beautiful festival celebrates sibling love and binds the family together.

Honouring this ancient festival of morals and self-sacrificing love, these hand crafted rakhis are prepared in the time honoured tradition and with same love & care that equates sisterly love. Made with Silk Threads (Resham), Golden wires/threads (Zardosi), Beads, Stones and Kundan Elements, these are finished with fine great quality ribbon or threads, and are a keepsake for lasting memories. The Rakhi comes with an ornate tikka case, which has a plastic seal containing few grams of Roli or Kumkum and rice

Rakshabandhan or Brother's Day is on the 15th of August 2019.

Wish you and your brother(s) a very happy Rakshabandhan (Brother's Day)! :)

Discovered is dedicated to creating positive impact. Not all artisans work alone. Sometimes they work in groups or collectives, are helped by not for profit organizations or work for social businesses. We select our partners to ensure more artisans have work make at least 10% above average wage.
We are committed to crafts. We encourage artisans to make products using traditional crafts and techniques. Making products mainly by hand or with easy accessible tools or common available machines. We believe this is important to keep alive.
We love handmade. We also feel strongly about preserving the world we live in. That’s why we work with our partners & artisans to stimulate using local materials and natural resources, and paying special attention to packaging & shipping.

Charming Ankle Bracelet

I ordered an ankle bracelet with little coin cjarms hanging from it and I absolutely love it. Not only was the shipping done in a timely manner but she also made it a little longer for me to fit my ankle better at no extra charge! I can't wait till the weather warms up so I can wear it.
