This bird pendant (may be customized into a brooch instead) with a simple shape, its pale blue color, and the botanical motif reminds me of Scandinavian folk art designs.

This bird pendant (may be customized into a brooch instead) with a simple shape, its pale blue color, and the botanical motif reminds me of Scandinavian folk art designs.

For this one of a kind pendant I used real flowers from my garden as a resist to create silhouette shapes. I played with those shapes and the beautiful oxides formed as a result of the torch fire on the copper, using colored, transparent and painting enamels. Several layers of glass fused permanently onto the copper.

I made this pendant out of copper sheet which I hand cut and enameled with a process in which glass (vitreous) enamel is permanently fused into the copper. I made the designs by using several different enamel techniques including sifting powdered glass, painting enamels, and firing many times in between. I work with my torch exclusively to fire the enamels. I also counter enameled each piece, meaning that the backside has a layer of vitreous enamel as well.

The Brooch: Handmade stainless steel pin.

The necklace: Nylon coated steel cable in your choice of length with a sterling silver handmade hook and eye clasp.

Bird dimensions: 1 1/2 by 7/8 inches

This is a One of A Kind, no piece is alike.

Selling through Discovered creates more income for artisans. They can set the price they want to receive for the products themselves. By cutting out all middlemen, artisans receive at least 20% more for their products. This is what we call fairer trade.
Discovered is dedicated to creating positive impact. Not all artisans work alone. Sometimes they work in groups or collectives, are helped by not for profit organizations or work for social businesses. We select our partners to ensure more artisans have work make at least 10% above average wage.
We are committed to crafts. We encourage artisans to make products using traditional crafts and techniques. Making products mainly by hand or with easy accessible tools or common available machines. We believe this is important to keep alive.
We love handmade. We also feel strongly about preserving the world we live in. That’s why we work with our partners & artisans to stimulate using local materials and natural resources, and paying special attention to packaging & shipping.
