How can we help you?

Who can sell on Discovered?

Discovered is for artisans who are literally making their items with their own hands (or tools) and for artisan designers who design their own items but employ people in their own shop to help make them. Many artisans are both making and designing their items.

We see the shop owner as the seller and you must make sure you meet these requirements. Reselling is prohibited.

Artisan makers

If you are an artisan maker, you are actually creating the items listed for sale in your Discovered shop. You might design the items in addition to making them, or you might follow a pattern or template that you did not design. Regardless, an artisan maker must be creating their items with their own hands (or using tools intended for personal use, for example a sewing machine).

Artisan Designers

If you are an artisan designer, you are a seller who has come up with an original design to be created by in-house shop members. Simple customization, such as selecting colors, shapes, or choosing from ready-made options is not considered design on Discovered. All handmade items are designed by you and created by people working for you in your shop. We require you to be transparent about who is helping you and how your items are being made. You accurately describe every person involved in the making of an item in your shop in your ‘Artisan Story’.

Artisan Organizations

We at Discovered acknowledge that reaching global artisans is a tough challenge. That is why we open up the marketplace to any organization with a mission to work with local artisans and create positive impact. This means that any organization with a mission to work with artisans and create positive impact, can apply to sell on Discovered.

We will need proof you are a registered not-for profit organization or social business with a documented mission to support local artisans. We will also work with you to establish how you create impact in terms of artisan income and retaining cultural heritage.

You should also receive an e-mail confirmation shortly after your order is submitted to confirm that the artisan received it. Once your order is shipped, we will send an e-mail confirming shipment.

What can you sell on Discovered?

Everything you list as handmade, must be made and/or designed by you, the seller. You may also have shop members that help you run your business, as long as you, the seller, are making and/or designing your items.

  • You can list any handmade goods in the categories Discovered is offering. For a current overview, please review the actual categories.
  • All goods must be legal to make in the country of origin and should be legal to import into the country where the buyer wants delivery. This is the responsibility of the seller. This includes goods made with materials from endangered species.
  • Listings should be non-breakable (no glassware), not size dependent (clothing) and non-perishable (food) to avoid returns and cancellations
  • All products offered should be priced from $9.99 to $999 USD
