We are Discovered, an online marketplace for handmade products ethically crafted by artisans in emerging countries. Our mission is to connect artisan entrepreneurs in India, Kenya, Thailand, Indonesia, South America, Mexico, Malaysia and Israel to conscious consumers worldwide. By stocking directly from the makers, every purchase creates a positive impact.

At Discovered, we are a small team with a selection of 75 artisans from all over the world. We have met our makers through our travels and realized they struggle to make ends meet. Solely depending on the local market, it is difficult to sell at reasonable prices, particularly since low quality and industrially produced products have started to appear consistently.

You will…

• Forecast monthly, quarterly and annual results;

• Approve or reject budgets;

• Conduct risk management;

• Evaluate and decide on investments;

• Allocate resources and manage transactions and cash flows;

• Ensure automatization of transactions with the various transaction-partners and platforms;

• Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations;

• Formulate business strategy with others in the management team;

• Design policies that align with overall strategy;

• Implement efficient processes and standards in an eCommerce marketplace such as vendor payments and the transfer of money between currencies;

• Coordinate financial operations between our US Corporation entity and Dutch BV entity;

• Ensure compliance with local and international laws (e.g. EU eCommerce VAT)

You are…

• Experienced in Finance and Operations;

• Experienced with eCommerce platforms in either Europe or North America; eCommerce marketplace experience is a plus;

• Proficient in Shopify, Woocommerce or other eCommerce management systems plus Amazon and / or Etsy;

• An expert in cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping;

• Experienced with budgeting and risk management;

• Proficient in accounting software;

• Analytical and you have decision-making skills;

• A leader

• A problem-solver

• A graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Entrepreneurship or relevant field; MSc/MBA or relevant certification is a plus
