What made you become an artisan?

Designing has been my passion since childhood and even my family and teachers always complimented my skills. It was not my family background at all. So I decided to take proper training to get polished. That’s when I started my career in the jewelry industry. I have worked for 5-6 years in manufacturing. I mastered the processes, techniques, and materials while learning how to handcraft a good quality product.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My main source of inspiration is nature: flowers, leaves, insects… My style is traditional and occasionally ornamental. I have been influenced by my mother and grandmother’s own vintage collection. I’m very much aware of what it is available in the market, so I’m always thinking of ways to make my collections unique and original.

How would you describe your work process?

I start all my designs by sketching ideas on pencil and paper. It takes 1-2 days to make one piece, including the silver shining process and the final polish. Once ready, I run quality checks before dispatch.

My work is handcrafted following a traditional style with modern takes. I mainly work on raw silver combined with gemstones. In Jaipur, the competition is very aggressive. Artisans have fascinating skill sets so I have to top up my game every day and deliver the best I can.

What do you love about being an artisan?

Making my customers happy is what I love the most! It validates my purpose. For custom orders, I ask my clients to share a photo reference of the piece of jewelry they would like to get. Usually, they can’t believe their eyes when they see the final product in physical form.

How does your work impact the lives of your artisans?

My artisans really enjoy what they do, we make a great team together. This work is their main source of income, it supports many families. We are like a joint family, we work and we live as a whole. I’m always there to support them, making them feel at home and ensuring I can provide a healthy work environment. At the end of the day, it’s simple: if they are happy, I’m happy.
